KhTP – yesterday, today and tomorrow.

On October 1st, 1931, the firstborn vehicle of Ukrainian tractor-building industry emerged from the assembly line of Kharkov Tractor Plant – it was a SKhTP 15-30 four-wheeled kerosene fueled tractor of 30 hp.

16 months, while the plant was built, were full of competition and enthusiasm, and they’ve initiated the accelerated working tempo of its future staff.

From 1937 till 1949 the plant was producing SKhTP –NATI ITA caterpillar kerosene-fueled tractors of 52 hp. This vehicle was still manufactured in evacuation in the town of Rubtsovsk, Altai region, during hard years of the war. Thanks to tractor builders from Kharkov, Altai Tractor Plant was initiated during this tense period in Kazakhstan.

Starting from the year of 1949, KhTP was raised from ruins and switched to manufacturing of DT-54 diesel tractors, which achieved their rightfully earned recognition of reliable hard-working vehicles on wheat fields of every USSR region.

At the same period, at the first time in Soviet tractor-building history, along with caterpillar tractors, KhTP started the production of four-wheeled lawn-and-garden tractors designed by engineers of the plant. The vehicles wide known out of Ukraine, DT-14, DT-20 and T-25, were highly demanded on all five continents of the planet, earning an honorable reward, the Golden Mercury, an international trading prize, for the plant. An independent tractor plant producing these vehicles was built in India.

The millionth tractor, T-74, a modified DT-54 version, emerged from the KhTP assembly line in 1967.

In seventies, after total reconstruction carried out without stopping the manufacture, the plant successfully switched to production of energy-saturated 3-ton class T-150 tractors in caterpillar and four-wheeled versions. Ergodynamic characteristics of these tractors were marked as the best during comparison tests of same class vehicles held in Nebraska, USA in 1973.

In the year of 1994, the plant was reformed in Kharkov Tractor Plant of S. Ordzhonikidze, the public corporation.

During the 75 years of working, about three million tractors were produced by the plant’s workshops. Of all tractor plants of former Soviet Union, only KhTP had been releasing tractor models of every existing class, starting from small lawn-and-garden 8-hp vehicles up to powerful 190-hp, both wheeled and caterpillar ones.

For today, the experienced worker and specialist staff of KhTP keeps developing and responsibly supporting the working condition of powerful manufacturing base producing modern advanced technical level vehicles.

They include energy-saturated general purpose tractors KhTP-17221 (featuring the framework cabin) and KhTP-17222 (featuring the newly designed metal-plastic boarding), T-150-K-09 (the vehicle known for its universality and economy). The tractors are equipped with reliable diesels produced by Yaroslavl Motor Plant. There are arable-till KhTP-16331 tractor, meeting all farmer demands (especially in beet bin fields), equipped with KAMAZ-240 engine and KhTP-16131 tractor equipped with Deutz engine. KhTZ-156, the manoeuvrable wheeled loader, is still highly demanded in agriculture and industry.

The plant keeps producing energy-saturated caterpillar tractors – widely known and tested KhTP-150-05-09, and the new improved KhTP-181 vehicle, equipped with Yaroslavl engines. The lawn-and-garden KhTP-3510 tractor is also being produced, featuring ORUVA engine manufactured in Lithuania.

Today, the more and more value is paid not just for new tractor model production, but to their further support – presale technical services, warranties and maintenance. In 2005, a dealer network was created by the plant in Ukraine. Since January, 2006, the production is being sold via the plant’s exclusive distributor, “The Firm of Kharkov Tractor Plant, the public corporation”, Ltd., which has a dealer network covering the territory of CIS and surrounding countries.

Gives us the ability to establish long-term contracts with agricultural manufacturers and to give more effective feedback with the plant, allowing maximally effective usage of KhTP tractors in aggregation with agricultural hardware.

Thanks to work of the staff and responsible support from its shareholders, the plant keeps holding important objects of social sphere.

Celebrating its 75th-year anniversary, the tractor-building staff of Kharkov does its best to successfully fulfill wide forward-looking plans on manufacture development, improvement of production, economical steadiness and further establishment of KhTP trademark.
